Colour INKspirations #80 - Shabby Chic Birthday Wishes

As soon as I saw the colours for CI#80, I realised these beautiful, soft colours  would be perfect for a shabby chic themed card.

The project I have made features the Arrange A Wreath bundle and the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper. I love my wreaths and will be using this at Christmas time. That large flower is quite poinsettia-like. 

I started with a base card of Crumb Cake card stock and found a sheet of co-ordinating paper from the pack of DSP - one that looks like plaster with a hint of Crumb Cake coloured canvas peaking through in places. I went and sponged the edges of this to add a little definition and shabby texture.

Lots of layers were created using the wreath dies firstly in Vellum using the berry wreath, then two layers the leaf wreath in Soft Sea Foam card stock.  To add definition and texture, I inked the edges of the two leaf wreaths in Soft Sea Foam ink.

I went and die cut lots of flowers in Rococo Rose, Purple Posy and Crumb Cake card stock and inked the edges for these too. The large flower has three layers:  bottom is Crumb Cake then the second and third are Rococo Rose.  The centres on all flowers were created using the Metallic Pearls in gold.  I decided to add in a few more Vellum leaves amongst the flowers on the top layer by die cutting an extra wreath then trimming off the sections I needed. I will keep my left-overs for future projects.
  

For the inside of the card, I stamped a section of the wreath in Soft Sea Foam and stamped in the corner on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I went ahead and sponged the edges in Crumb Cake to keep in with the shabby chic feel. 

I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso - and yes, this wasn't one of the colours for this challenge but we all know brown fits in better with a shabby chic composition. To finish the card, I added a few more gold Metalic Pearls.

• Crumb Cake card stock card base 4 1/8" x 11 1/2" scored at 5 3/4"
• Co-ordinating DSP trimmed to 3 3/4" x 5 3/8"
• Whisper White card stock trimmed to 3/78" x 5 1/2" for inside
• Piece of Vellum card stock large enough to die cut two wreaths
• Piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock large enough to die cut two wreaths
• Scraps of Roco Rose, Purple Posy and Crumb Cake card stock to die cut whatever  flowers you need
• INKS:  Crumb Cake, Rococo Rose, Soft Sea Foam and Highland Heather (as we don't have Purple Posy Ink)
• Metallic Pearls in gold
• Tombow glue and Stampin' Dimensionals 
• Sponge

You will need a die cutting machine for this project.

Six Months 'til Christmas!

Is it too early to start making Christmas cards?  

While us Demonstrators eagerly await for our pre-order to open for the new Mini- Catalogue, today I want to show you three different versions of a card which displays three levels of card making depending on your skill level.  All three cards use a card base of Shaded Spruce and features the Forever Greenery Designer Series Paper (DSP). 

The first card, which shows how simple yet effective a single piece of DSP can look with a stamped sentiment.  A quick and easy card; great for a beginner card-maker or someone who needs to make a batch in a hurry.  For added definition, I have sponged around the edges of the DSP and 'kissed' the edges of the sentiment piece in Shaded Spruce ink. The sentiment was stamped in Shaded Spruce also.

My second card steps it up by adding a gold foil matte layer under the DSP, a bow in co-ordinating ribbon and a sentiment stamped then punched using the Timeless Label punch. Once again, I 'kissed' the edges of the punched sentiment to add a bit of definition and used foam dimensionals to attached it to the card front.   Still a great card for a beginner or those who are time challenged.  The Gold Foil and ribbon just adds a little something extra.

 My third card takes it to the next level but still only needs a paper trimmer and punch as tools.  This time I have trimmed my DSP into strips then glued them onto a piece of Pretty Peacock card stock before trimming around the edge.  Shaded Spruce card stock would also be suitable for this if you didn't want to introduce another colour however I like the darker background.  

Even this last card is relatively easy to create and once you have all your pieces cut, it wouldn't take too long to create a batch if you needed to.

Blossoms in Blooms Fancy Fold Card

Hello everyone, thanks for coming in and checking out my Blog today.  After watching a video recently by Tanya Tobin from Tatiana Creative Adventure, I was inspired make a W-Fold Fancy Fold card featuring Stampin' Up! Blossoms in Bloom Bundle.  

It's a little bit fiddly but it's definitely worth the effort!  I've made mine as a birthday card, but there are many sentiment options available with the stamp set to be able to use it for many different occasions.

Supplies needed: 

PLEASE NOTE: I like to craft in inches and my card bases are custom size due to Stampin' Up! only having A4 cardstock available here in Australia.

• Card Base 11 1/2" x 4 1/8", scored in half at 5 3/4"
• First matte layer trimmed to 5 1/2" x 3 7/8" in Sahara Sand card stock
• Second matte layer for stamping trimmed to 5 3/8" x 3 3/4" in Whisper White card stock

• 2 pieces of Whisper White card stock for the inside of the card base, trimmed to 5 1/2" x 3 7/8" 
• A strip of Rich Razzleberry card stock trimmed to 11 1/2" x 1 1/2" and scored at 2 7/8", 5 3/4" and 8 5/8" for the 'W' piece
• 4 pieces of Sahara Sand card stock timmed to 2 1/2" x 3"
• 4 pieces of Whisper White card stock trimmed to 2 3/8" x 2 7/8"

• Piece of Whisper White card stock trimmed to 5 1/2" x 5" for the blossom die cut 
• Inks: Rich Razzleberry (blossoms) and Sahara Sand (blossom centres and leaves)

To being with, I die cut the thinner blossom outline in Whisper White and put it aside. Taking the Whisper White matte piece reserved for the front, I stamped the large blossom stamp in Rich Razzleberry.  You can also stamp the smaller blossoms to add more fullness to the image.  I didn't for this one but I did in my So Saffron version.  I much prefer it with all the flowers stamped to match the die overlay.

To create a back ground for my 'W' fold, I stamped both Whisper White pieces reserved for the insides of the card base in Rich Razzleberry ink using the large blossom stamp then stamped the flower centres in Sahara Sand ink. 

I then went and stamped two of the smaller Whisper White panel pieces with the single blossom stamp in Rich Razzleberry ink and the blossom centres and leaves in Sahara Sand ink.  The Happy Birthday sentiment was also stamped in Rich Razzleberry.

To assemble the card, I started with the front.  The blossom die cut was adhered over the top of the stamped image being careful to line up the image with the die cut. This piece was adhered onto the piece of Sahara Sand matte layer and finally, this was adhered onto the card front. 

Opening the card base, I adhered the larger stamped Whisper White pieces on each side of the card base. To form the 'W', I folded and burnished each score line as follows: the middle to form a hill, the two either side to be valleys. I then adhered the 'W' strip to the card base, first on one side, then the other, staying in line with the Whisper White matte layer. Take care no not spread any glue over into the two inner sections as this will cause the 'W' to stick together and prevent your card from opening.   

I adhered the each of the four smaller Whisper White card stock panels to the Sahara Sand panels then attached each finished panel to the 'W' in order of my preference.

 

This next card was created with a So Saffron card base and a Basic Gray matte layer. Inks I used: So Saffron (blossoms), Mint Macaron (leaves) Basic Gray (flower centres). Love the softness to this colour way.

Hello Blossoms!

Today I am sharing a card featuring the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set.  The inspiration for this card came from the ever so talented Mikaela Titheridge aka The Crafty oINK Pen.  I have simplified her version as I wanted to be able to recreate it in a class setting.  I've used the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch for my sentiment.  

Firstly I stamped the large blossom stamp directly in Mango Melody ink, then with a sponge dauber, I coloured around the centres with Melon Mambo.  The flower centres were stamped first in Mango Melody then Melon Mambo over the top.  Leaves were stamped using the same technique, first directly in Old Olive then Shaded Spruce.

This stamp set has many different options for sentiments, so you could easily change it for something to fit any occasion.

Colour INKspiration Challenge #79

Star Celebration!

Hello! Welcome and thanks for popping in!  I needed to put my thinking cap on and create a card for the next Colour INKspiration Challenge which has just kicked off.  The challenge colours - Night of Navy, Merry Merlot, Pretty Peacock and Blackberry Bliss - were a test for me.  With such dark, rich colours I would normally mix them up with a couple of lighter tones.

The card I've created features the Stitched Stars dies and I've incorporated the new Lovely Labels Pick a Punch and the Many Mates stamp set for the sentiment. For added interest, I have used Shimmery White Embossing Paste to add a background behind the stars.

Forever Fern Box in a Bag and Card

On May 30th two very special people were supposed to be celebrating their wedding with all their family and friends. That is, before COVID-19 had other ideas.  With restrictions easing ever so slightly here in Queensland, Alisa and Levi have decided to still get married with only their absolute nearest and dearest and will hold their reception later in the year.  What a party that will be!

This is the card and gift box I have made for them and it features products from the Forever Greenery product suite.  I have created a similar card to my previous sample using the same bundle but this time I added in a few gold sprigs from the Forever Gold Laser-cut Specialty Paper.  This gold paper is gorgeous!  I added in a sentiment from the same stamp set then die cut it using the new Tasteful Label dies.

To create my gift box, I used the 'box in a bag' instructions but adjusted all the measurements to fit my gift specifically.  The base of my box in a bag measures 1 1/2" x 3" made up.  I love this particular style of gift bag as you can make it to whatever size you need.
