Hello friends, and thanks for popping in!
This is a card I created for my uncle's 80th Birthday and boy, do I find masculine cards a challenge. Once I knew where I was heading, it was a breeze but getting that first inkling of an idea was a struggle.
It features In Good Taste Designer Series Paper (DSP) and also the Forever Gold Laser Cut Specialty Paper which I flipped to use the white side. My sentiment is custom made using 'Happy Birthday' from Many Mates stamp set and the 8,0 and th from Family Party stamp set.
- Stamp Sets: Many Mates, Family Party
- Dies: Painted Labels
- Cardstock: Crumb Cake (card base), Early Esspresso (matte layer), Smoky Slate (sentiment)
- DSP: In Good Taste, Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper
- Ink: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
- Stampin' Write Marker: Early Espresso
- Adhesives: Dimensionals/Foam Adhesive Sheets, Tombow Multipurpose Glue
- Tools: Blending Brushes, Paper Trimmer, Cut & Emboss Machine, Stamparatus
How To Assemble:
- Cut a card base in Crumb Cake with a landscape orientation.
- Cut a piece of Early Espresso cardstock 5/8" smaller on two sides than your card front.
- Cut a piece of co-ordinating DSP 3/4" smaller on two sides than your piece of Early Espresso cardstock.
- I added a little bit of Crumb Cake Ink to the top left and bottom right of my DSP where my leaves would be to bring a little bit of the card base colour into the DSP.
- Adhere your cardstock and DSP together using Tombow glue and then adhere this to your card front using either Dimensionals or Foam Adhesive Sheets.
- Take a piece of Smoky Slate cardstock measuring at least 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" and using the Family Party stamp set, stamp '80th' in the centre with Early Espresso ink.
- To stamp the Happy Birthday, I used my Stampin' Write Marker and masking the 'Birthday', I coloured the 'Happy' with the marker and stamped this above the '80th'. I then did the opposite for stamping the 'Birthday' ie masking the 'Happy', colouring then stamping the 'Birthday'. If you still have a stamp-a-ma-jig, you could use this to get accurate placement. I use the same technique with a piece of quilters plastic and my Stamparatus.
- Die cut this piece using the cornered rectangle die from the Painted Labels Dies.
- Glue this onto one of the pieces from the Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper, putting the gold side down.
- Adhere this piece down to your card front using either Dimensionals or Foam Adhesive Sheets.
- After finishing my card, I wished I had blended a little bit of Early Espresso ink around the edges of my sentiment but I'm still happy with how it turned out.
- I used left over pieces of Foam Adhesive Sheets that I had die cut letters from. I always keeps those pieces to use in projects like this. One side will still have the peel away backing and I use Tombow Glue to stick down the other side.
Thank you so much taking the time to drop in. I hope I have inspired you and if you like what I have shown or if you have any questions, please leave them in the comments section below.
