Colour INKspiration Challenge #96 - Stamped One Sheet Wonder feat. Vine Design Bundle

Hello crafty friends!  Welcome and thanks for popping in. This photo for CI#96 was chosen by Leonie Stuart and our Guest Designer is the very talented Jolanda Johnstone.

For this challenge, I stamped a half 'one sheet wonder' (a piece of A4 cardstock cut in half lengthwise) using the images from Vine Design stamp set.  I trimmed this piece into six smaller sections which I then made into cards using four of the larger pieces.  The two smaller strips were glued into the centres of the larger cards as a feature.

Supplied Needed:
  • Vine Design Bundle, Forever Fern (splatter stamp)
  • Cardstock:  Basic White Thick, Basic White Regular,  Flirty Flamingo, Blushing Bride, Granny Apple Green
  • Inks:  Petal Pink, Blushing Bride, Flirty Flamingo, Melon Mambo, Granny Apple Green
  • Adhesives: Tombow Multipurpose Glue (or adhesive of your choice)
  • Tools: Paper Trimmer, Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Acrylic Stamping Blocks

How to Assemble:
  • Trim a piece of Basic White cardstock in half lengthwise.
  • Taking the large leaf stamp, stamp a line down the centre in 2nd generation Blushing Bride.  This will form a background for your other stamping.
  • Using Melon Mambo ink, stamp the large round flower in groups of three in different areas.
  • Using Flirty Flamingo ink, stamp the next flower, again in groups of three and using 2nd generation stamping to add depth.  Tuck these into the spaces around the first flowers.
  • Using Petal Pink ink, stamp the thinner flower around the edges of what you have already stamped.
  • Take the leaf and stamp this amongst the flowers in Granny Apply Green.  I tried to not ink the stem of the leaves as much as possible so I could tuck them into the flowers.  Use 2nd stamping to add depth.
  • To fill the gaps between the flowers and leaves, use both Blushing Bride and Melon Mambo ink with the smallest flower again using 2nd and even 3rd generation stamping.
  • Lastly and in my opinion, most importantly, add splatters in Garden Green Ink. Fill in any areas where you feel need texture. I used the splatter stamp from Forever Fern stamp set but you can use any splatter stamp you have. This completes your stamping.

  • Cut your piece of stamped cardstock into suitable sizes to create card toppers from each piece. As mentioned before, the two thinner strips were used on the inside of the larger cards.

The finished card on the bottom right uses the rectangle die from Flowering Vine Dies in Flirty Flamingo cardstock to create a lacy feature.  The two smaller note cards uses scraps of Garden Green, Petal Pink and Flirty Flamingo cardstock.  The other larger card has a mat layer in Petal Pink.  I will add sentiments from the same stamp set as needed.

Happy Birthday featuring Butterfly Brilliance Bundle

Hello crafty friends and thanks for popping in! The card I'm sharing today was inspired by the lovely Tammy Wilson, who is part of the Artisan Design Team at Stampin' Up.  Her card featured a watercoloured backgound but I thought I would try something a little different.

The products I'm featuring are a pre-release from the 2021-22 Annual Catalogue and includes a Stamp Set and co-ordinating dies which you can bundle together for a savings of 10% as well as 6"x6" Designer Series Paper together with the Natural Touch 12"x12" Specialty Paper. The whole collection is available to purchase using this one item number 159408 or items can be purchased separately using individual item numbers.

To create the background of my card front, I mixed a little bit of Balmy Blue re-inker with some Matte Embossing Paste then used this with the polka dot stencil from the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks. Then before it was completely dry, I gently pressed Gilded Leafing over the top.  Once completely dry, I brushed of the excess with a spare Blending Brush which I have now put away with the container Gilded Leafing for future projects.

Supplies Needed:
  • Butterfly Bijou 6"x6" Designer Series Paper (available only while stocks last)
  • Brilliant Wings Dies, Wild Rose Dies
  • Embossing Folder:  Subtle 3D
  • Cardstock/Paper:  Basic White Thick (card base), Basic White (mat layers), Vellum, strip cut from the Butter Bijou paper that was die cut.
  • Ribbon/Trim: Pool Party Sheer Ribbon, Scalloped Lace Trim, Crinkled Seam Binding, White Twine (from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack)
  • Basic Patterns Decorative Masks
  • Mattte Embossing Paste
  • Balmy Blue Re-Inker
  • Tools: Palette Knives Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips
  • Adhesives: Stampin' Seal, Mini Dimensionals, Glue Dots

Assembling The Card:
  • Create a card base from Basic White Thick cardstock

  • Cut a mat layer 1/8" shorter on two sides and run this through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. Adhere to the front of your card base.

  • Cut a second mat layer 1" smaller on two sides than your card front. Then cut a third piece of Basic White cardstock 1/8" smaller on two sides. Distress the edges on both layers using the edge of your scissors.

  • Mix up some Matte Embossing Paste with a drop of Balmy Blue Re-Inker and using the polka dot stencil from the Basic Patterns Decorative Masks, smear the coloured paste through the stencil with a palette knife going in a diagonal direction.

  • While still wet, gently press some of the Gilding Leafing onto the Embossing Paste and once completely dry, carefully brush off the excess with an unused  Blending Brush.  It has to be unused or you will transfer any residue ink onto your project. You can then keep this brush to use with your Gilded Leafing in the future.

  • Glue the second and third mat layers together.  There'll be a very small 1/16" border around all sides.

  • Take a sheet of the DSP with the larger butterflies and run this through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine or other die cutting machine with the co-ordinating die from the Brilliant Wings Dies.  This die will cut out all six of the full butterflies.

  • Taking the same piece of DSP, cut a strip with the Balmy Blue colour and tuck this under the top right edge on an angle and adhere this to the card front.

  • Die cut a piece of Vellum using the lable from Wild Rose dies and attached this to the centre of the card front.

  • Cut a length of each of the ribbons and trims and two of the white twine and tie them all together in a bow. Adhere this to the large yellow butterfly with Glue Dots and attach this to the centre of the Vellum with Dimensionals.
