Watercoloured Pierced Blooms - CI#116

Hello crafty friends!  And thanks for popping in!

Welcome back for Colour INKspirations Challenge #116.  The photo for this challenge was chosen by our lovely Crew member, Cheryl Miller and the Guest Designer for this Challenge is the amazing Bernie Roodt.

I took inspiration from the beautiful bouquets and decided on a wreath design with the help of some watercolouring in the Challenge Colours. A few gems from the Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels and a double bow finishes it off.

 Supplies Needed:

  • Dies:  Pierced Blossoms Dies, Stitched Greenery Die
  • Cardstock:  Blackberry Bliss (card base), Basic White (topper and inner)
  • Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper
  • Reinkers:  Highland Heather, Blackberry Bliss, Mint Macaron, Smoky Slate
  • Embellishments:  Iridescent Rhinestones Basic Jewells, Linen Thread
  • Tools: Water Painters, Paper Trimmer, Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine
  • Adhesive:  Tombow Liquid Glue, Mini Dimensionals, Glue Dots

How To Assemble:

Trim two sheets of Fluid 100 Watercolour paper in half and watercolour each piece with the using the Challenge colours.  I also added some salt while still wet to add more texture.  Once completely dry, remove the salt.
Take the Pierced Bloom Dies and cut a full sheet of Mint Macaron and Smoky Slate leaves and a few flowers in different sizes.  At this point I didn't quite know my finished design so I cut a  few in both Highland Heather and Blackberry Bliss.

Create a card base in Blackberry Bliss.  Trim two pieces of Basic White cardstock measuring 1/4" smaller on two sides which will give you a 1/8" border on all sides.

Use the Stitched Greenery Die on one for the card topper.

Arrange the leaves in a circle, alternating Mint Macaron and Smoky Slate.  I used ten larger leaf die cuts all together.

Add centres to the large flowers and arrange them on the wreath, placing smaller flowers beside them.  Use the smaller leaf die cuts to fill in any gaps.

I had some die cuts left over, so I added them to the inner.

Add some Iridescent Rhinestones to the centres of each flower and add a double bow in the Linen Thread.

Colour INKspiration #115 feat Artistic Dies

Hello crafty friends!  And thanks for popping in!

Welcome back for Colour INKspirations Challenge #115.  The photo for this challenge was chosen by me and the Guest Designer for this Challenge is the fabulous Alisa Tilsner. We have an autumnal colour palette for this challenge and my project reflects this.  I also took inspiration from the artistic lines within the photo and incorporated this into my background.

My card features the large detailed leaf die from Artistic Dies and the Stitchery Stamp Set.  These products can be found in the 2021-22 Annual Catalogue.  The watercoloured background was created using Stampin' Write Markers and a spritzer.  It was a whole lot of fun and a little messy - you should have seen my fingers! - but I absolutely love the end result.

Supplies Needed:

  • Dies: Artistic Dies
  • Stamp Set:  Stitchery
  • Cardstock:  Cajun Craze (card base and die cuts), Gray Granite, Bumblebee (accent pieces), Fluid 100 Watercolour paper
  • Stampin' Write Markers:  Cajun Craze, Gray Granite, Bumblebee, So Saffron.  Please Note:  In my links below, I have listed the 40 colour Case (No In-Colours) but Markers can also be purchased as separate Colour Family Assortments including the current In-Colours.
  • Ink: Cajun Craze
  • Gilded Leafing
  • Embellishments: Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots
  • Tools:  Clear Block 'F' and 'I', Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Paper Trimmer, Stampin' Spritzer
  •  Adhesives: Adhesive Sheets, Dimensionals, Tombow Liquid Glue

How to Make:

For this you will need;
A cardbase in Cajun Craze plus extra for three detailed leaf die cuts.
A piece iof Basic White for your 'inner'.
A small piece (aka scrap) meauring at least 2" x 1" each of Bumblebee and Gray Granite.
A half sheet of Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper.
Using the Stampin' Write Markers in the Challenge colours, and create streaks of colour on the 'F' Block, spritz with water and place the half-sheet of water colour paper over the top. Remove and allow to dry.
Repeat this process if desired for more intense colour.
When completely dry, stamp the double-line image over the top in Crajun Craze ink.

Take a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock, slightly larger than the die and cover one side with a piece of Adhesive Sheet.

Remove the backing and apply Gold Leaf.
Die cut with the detailed leaf die.

Initially I used Heat & Stock Powder to apply the Gold Leaf but ripped the die cut when I was removing it from the die due to it's thin sections.
Using Adshesive Sheets then die cutting also gives the Gold Leaf a neater edge.
Die cut two more detailed leaf pieces in Cajun Craze.

Stick these on top of each other to provide extra stability and dimension.
I used Tombow Liquid Glue but using the Adhesive Sheets again would definitely be less messy.

Glue this down to the watercoloured background.
Add the pieces of Gray Granite and Bumblebee cardstock top and bottom and add Dimensionals on the back.

Attach this to the card front.
If there is enough gold-leafed cardstock left, make a partial die cut and use this on the card 'inner' and then stick this to the inside of the card.

Add some of the gold Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dots.
