Merry and Bright Christmas Wishes for Colour INKspiration Challenge #134

Hi there friends!  Welcome and thanks for popping in!

It's another Colour INKspiration Challenge week and boy, I'm starting to panic a little that we're almost at the end of November.  For this challenge, we've have been tasked to work with Sweet Sorbet, Parakeet Party and Basic White.  The inspiration photo has been picked by Crew Member, Cheryll Miller and our Guest Designer this challenge is the amazing,   I can't wait to go and see what everyone has created.

For my card, I decided to add a little silver heat embossing and create a Christmas card.  I used the Textured Chic Bundle and teamed that with the Stylish Shapes Dies.  For my greeting I used Brightest Glow as I needed something to fit into that small left hand corner.  The snowflakes have been inked in Versamark and then heat embossed in silver but if you didn't want to go to this trouble, Silver Foil would be a great trade-off.

Supplies:
  • Bundle:  Season of Chic Bundle
  • Stamp Set: Brightest Glow Stamp Set
  • Dies:  Stylish Shapes
  • Cardstock:  Basic White Thick, Basic White, Parakeet Party
  • Inks:  Versamark, Sweet Sorbet
  • Colouring Accessories:  Metallics Embossing Powder Pack (silver)
  • Tools:  Paper Trimmer, Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Heat Tool, Blending Brush, Water Painters
  • Adhesives:  Dimensionals, Tombow Liquid Glue
Let's Make It:

For this card, you will need the following cardstock:
  • Basic White Thick card base
  • Parakeet Party mat layer measuring 3 1/4" x 4 7/8" (7/8" less on two sides that the card front)
  • Basic White layer measuring 3 1/8" x 4 3/4" (1" less on two sides than the card front)
  • a strip of Basic White cardstock large enough to die-cut six snowflakes from the Chic Dies
  • a strip of Basic White cardstock large enough to die-cut 3 of the second-to-smallest squares from Stylish Shapes
  • a second strip of Basic White cardstock large enough to cie-cut another 3 second-to-largest squares - this will be ink-blended with Sweet Sorbet
  • A piece of Parakeet Party measuring 3 7/8" x 5 1/2"  (1/4" less on two sides than the card front) to use as a mat layer on the inside
  • A piece of Basic White measuring 3 3/4" x 5 3/8" (3/8" less on two sides than the card front) to use on the inside

  • Glue together the smaller piece of Parakeet Party and Basic White cardstock to create a card-topper. Stamp your sentiment in VersaMark ink in the bottom left corner and heat emboss in silver.
  • Using a Blending Brush and Sweet Sorbet ink, apply ink to one of the strips of Basic White cardstock and using either the small or medium Water Painter, splatter water and dry off with a piece of paper towel.  This will give a lovely textured background.

  • Die-cut three squares using the second-to-smallest die from Stylish Shapes from the ink-blended cardstock.  Die-cut three more of the same size in Basic White cardstock and glue one of each together for added stability and dimension to end up with three squares.
  • Die-cut six snowflakes from the Chic Dies and glue two together so that you end up with three single snowflakes.  This will give dimension and strengthen each snowflake. Inked each up with VersaMark ink and dip them into Silver Embossing Powder and heat set.  Allow each to cool a little and repeat for all three.

  • Glue a snowflake to each square and trim.

  • Glue these down the right-hand side of the card topper allowing equal space between all three.  Attach this to the card front using Dimensionals.

  • To finish of your card, stamp the snowflake image from the Season of Chic Stamp Set in the bottom right corner of the larger piece of Basic White in Versamark Ink and heat emboss in Silver.  This step isn't necessary but will bring the design on the outside to the inside of the card.  Glue this and the second, larger piece of Parakeet Party cardstock together and adhere this to the inside of the card.

Stamped One-Sheet-Wonder for Colour INKspiration Challenge #133

Hello my friends!  Welcome and thanks for popping in!

Today I am sharing a stamping project that I have created for Colour INKspiration Challenge #133.  The colours this challenge are Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Mossy Meadow and Merry Merlot. Our lovely Crew Member, Leonie Stuart chose the inspiration photo and our Guest Designer for this challenge is the fabulous Bev Evans.  I can't wait to see what everyone has created!

Having five colours to work with, I decided to stamp a full sheet of Basic White cardstock with a Christmas design.  This is a great way to mass produce cards with minimum of effort. I also used Gray Granite in the background.  Being a neutral, it was still within the rules.  I highly recommend checking out Ruth Trice from Artful Stampin With Ruth to see how a real expert stamps using this technique.  I was able to trim this A4 sheet and make up six 5" x 5" cards from my A4 sheet.

Supplies for Stamping:

  • Stamp Sets: Artistically Inked, Merriest Moments, Heavenly Hollyhocks, Season of Chic
  • Cardstock:  Basic White
  • Inks:  Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Mossy Meadow, Merry Merlot, Gray Granite
  • Clear Blocks
Supplies for Cards:

  • Stamp Set:  Merriest Moments
  • Dies:  All That Dies
  • Ink:  Versamark
  • Colouring Accessories:  Stampin' Emboss Powders - Basics (white)
  • Embellishments:  Festive Pearls, Gold & Vanilla Satin-Edged Ribbon
  • Tools:  Paper Trimmer,  Heat Tool, Mini Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine
  • Adhesives:  Dimensionals, Tombow Liquid Glue
Let's Stamp:

  • I used the narrower watercolour image  from Artistically Inked and stamped a random strip down the middle of the cardstock lengthwise, using 2nd and 3rd generation Gray Granite, roughly 3" wide.
  • Create clusters of three flowers across the centre of the cardstock lenth-wise by stamping the large poinsettia image from Merriest Moments in Merry Merlot, stamping the first image then turning to offset the image and stamping again in 2nd generation.
  • Using Mossy Meadow ink, stamp the larger fern-like leafy image  from Merriest Moments in the valleys between the flowers, both in 1st and 2nd generation ink. As this is a larger image, I used the corner of my stamp pad and only inked up the end 2/3 of the stamp to fit better with the design.

  • Stamp the smaller holly leaf from Merriest Moments in 1st and 2nd generation Granny Apple Green around the edges of the flowers.
  • Again using Granny Apple Green, stamp the centres of each poinsettia.
  • Using the quartet of small flowers from Heavenly Hollyhocks, stamp this image in Gorgeous Grape again in 1st and 2nd generation ink filling in spaces.
  • 2nd and 3rd generation Coastal Cabana ink was used to stamp the snowflake image from Season Of Chic along each side, filling in any larger spaces.
  • Lastly, add 'dottage' as the Artful Stampin group call it, using Mossy Meadow in 1st and 2nd generation stamping using the image from Merriest Moments stamp set.  Use this to cover any boo-boos, fill in any open areas and soften the harsh lines of the more solid images.
A video showing the stamping process will be available later tonight.

Let's Make Some Cards:
  • I trimmed down the sheet of cardstock so that I had four 10cm x 10cm pieces and two 9.5cm x 9.5xm pieces. I have several sheets of Vellum marked in different configurations to enable me to 'audition' my stamping to find the best way to cut up my sheets.

  • I added a Coastal Cabana mat underneath each one, each mat layer measures 0.5cm larger on two sides than the stamped cardstock, ie four 10.5cm x 10.5cm and two 10cm x 10cm
  • Create 6 card bases in Basic White so that you have a 5" x 5" card front or approx 13cm x 13cm and attach the topper to the card front with Dimensionals. I used 12"x 12" cardstock as I found this the most ecconomical even though it's not as thick.
  • Stamp a greeting on Merry Merlot cardstock using Versamark Ink and heat emboss in white.  Die cut using the 'fancy' rectangle from All That Dies.
  • Add a loop of the Gold & Vanilla Satin-Edged Ribbon underneath and attached with Dimensionals.
  • Add three gold adhesive-back pearls from the Red & Green Adhesive-Backed Pearls to the centres of the poinsettia image.
