Queen Bee Birthday Wishes - Colour INKspiration Challenge #140

Hello my crafty friends!  Welcome to my Blog and thanks for popping in!

The next colour challenge has opened over on Colour INKspiration and we have been given a lovely soft colour palette to work with. Our inspiration photo was chosen by the esteemed Lou Kitzelman and our Guest Designer is the lovely Yvonne Spikmanns Van Bruggan.  I can't wait to go and see what everyone has created.

The photo is depicting a definite Easter Theme but not being big on sending out Easter cards, I don't have any dedicated Easter stamp sets. So, with my thinking cap on, I pulled out the Queen Bee Bundle and u.

Supplies:

  • Bundle:  Queen Bee
  • Cardstock:  Basic White, Petal Pink
  • Paper:  Hello, Irresistable
  • Inks:  Early Espresso, Soft Sea Foam
  • Blends Pens:  So Saffron (dark), Soft Sea Foam (dark), Petal Pink (dark)
  • Embellishments:  Iridescent Rhinestones
  • Tools:  Paper Trimmer, Mini Cut & Emboss Machine, Stamparatus
  • Adhesives:  Tombow Liquid Glue, Dimensionals, Glue Dots
Let's Make It:
  • Create a card front with Basic White Thick cardstock and stamp the large floral and foliage image in Soft Sea Foam in the bottom left hand corner and top right hand corner.
  • Trim a piece of Soft Sea Foam coloured paper from the paper pack to give a 0.5cm or 1/4" border on all sides and stamp the grunged font image in Soft Sea Foam around all four sides using first, second and third generation stamping to create a light vignette.  Glue this to the front of the card base.
  • Stamp the bee image in in Early Espresso and die-cut using the co-ordinating die.  Colour each flower in dark So Saffron Blends Pen, the flower centres in dark Petal Pin the leaves in dark Soft Sea Foam

  • Add Dimensionals under each wing and liquid glue down the body section and glue this to the centre of the card front.  If you wanted more dimension, add Dimensionals to the body and  stack two Dimensionals on each wing.

  • Using the Stamparatus to help with positioning, stamp the words Happy Birthday using a combination of Soft Sea Foam and a light daubering of Early Espresso and die cut using the label die. Adhere this above the bee.

  • Die cut two of the half-circle foliages and glue these above the label and below the bee.
  • Die cut three smaller flowers in Basic White and one larger one in Petal Pink.  Add these to the bottom foliage using a Dimensional for the middle flower and a Glue Dot on each of the smaller flowers.  Add an small Iridescent Rhinestone to each flower.
  • Die cut a small heart from Petal Pink cardstock and glue over the heart shape on the bee.
  • Add Wink of Stella to the heart and each flower.
  • To complete the card, trim a piece of Basic White to fit inside the card and stamp in second generation Soft Sea Foam in the top left and bottom right corners.  Mat this on a piece of Soft Sea Foam cardstock and adhere into the inside of the card.

  • For something a little bit extra special, I've stamped the back of my envelope in Soft Sea Foam.

Stamping with 2021-2023 In Colours - WCMG March Challenge

Hello crafty friends! Welcome and thanks for dropping in!

The card I'm sharing with you all today showcases the 2021-2023 In Colours - it was stamped for a Challenge over in the World Card Making Group on Facebook.  We have been tasked to create a project using all five colours which are sadly retiring at the end of April.  I've really enjoyed using these colours - it will be sad to see them leave the colour collection from Stampin' Up!

My project is quite product heavy as I've combined six different stamp sets- ideally you need three different sized floral images, a variety of foliage and a 'dottage' stamp.  I really enjoy stamping this way and will normally stamp a full sheet of cardstock then trim them into card fronts a bit like one-sheet-wonders.  For this project though, I only stamped this.

Supples:

  • Stamp Sets:  Artistically Inked (background and sentiment), Colour & Contour (large flowers), Forever Fern (foliage, dottage), Heavenly Hollyhocks (medium flowers), Hand-Penned Petals (foliage, flower stem), Full of Love (small flowers)
  • Cardstock:  Basic White Thick and regular, Polished Pink, Evening Evergreen
  • Ink:  2021-2023 In Colours - Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Pale Papaya, Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia
  • Embellilshments:  Champagne Rhinestones
Let's Make It:
  • Trim a piece of Basic White Regular cardstock to a size that's slightly larger than your card front.
  • Stamp the elongated watercolour image from Artistically Inked in 2nd generation Pale Papaya to provide a little texture and colour to your background.  Don't stress too much about this step as it will be mostly covered and you could even not do this step.
  • Depending on your preference, stamp either the detail or the fill-in floral image from Colour & Contour then swap to create a close cluster of three flowers in the centre using Polished Pink.
  • Stamp one of the  larger foliage stamps from Forever Fern in the 'valley' between each flower using 2nd generation Soft Succulent.
  • Stamp the larger single flower from Heavenly Hollyhocks in Fresh Freesia around the outer edges of the larger pink  flowers.  Try and stamp in groups as room allows.
  • Using full-strength Soft Succulent, stamp the larger leaf image from Hand-Penned Petals filling in the areas around the flowers.  Don't be afraid to stamp over the existing images - this will create depth and dimension.
  • Use the little trio of flowers from Full of Love and stamp these in Pale Papaya.  You could substitute this stamp for the little group of four in Heavenly Hollyhocks.
  • The floral stamp from Hand-Penned Petals was stamped in Evening Evergreen and I left off the lower section of the stem in most of my stamping.
  • Lastly, add some 'dottage' again in Evening Evergreen using the image from Forever Fern.
  • Trim this down and mat onto a piece of Polished Pink cardstock.  I have a tiny 1/16" or 2mm border on all four sides.
  • Attach this to your card base using Dimensionals.  If posting, I would glue directly.
  • Stamp your sentiment on a strip of Basic White and add a narrower strip of Evening Evergreen behind and attach with Dimensionals.
  • Add a couple of Champagne Rhinestones either side for a little bit of sparkle.
  • To finish off the inside, I've matted a piece of Basic White cardstock onto a piece of Polished Pink and glued it in.  You could also add some stamping in one corner if you wanted to bring the design to the inside of your card.
