Stamp Your Own Designer Paper - Colour INKspiration Challenge #150

Hello my stampin' friends!  Welcome and thanks for popping in.

This Colour INKspiration Challenge marks a significant milestone for our Crew.  We are 150 Challenges Old! and to celebrate we have a special inspirational photo for you which was chosen by our fabulous Crew Leader, Lou Kitzelman.  The Guest Designer is the amazing Donna Hardcastle and I can't wait to go and see what everyone has created.

We have been given some lovely bright colours to create with for this Challenge, very summery and almost bordering on autumnal.

Please don't be put off by the five colours - these are great colours for any florals with foliage but there are other possibilities too.  I took advantage of having five colours to do a little stamping.  I took a sheet of Basic White A4 cardstock and had a fabulous time creating my own Designer Paper which I later used to make cards - you can see the video HERE

This is a great technique for batch-making cards.  It's also quite forgiving - anything that you might deem a mistake won't even show once your cardstock sheet is cut up and embellished.

Supplies:

  • Cardstock:  Basic White
  • Inks:  Sweet Sorbet, Calypso Coral, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Pretty Peacock
  • Stamp Sets:  Gorgeously Made, Two-Tone Flora, Sending Smiles, Layering Leaves
  • Tools:  Stampin' Piece Mat, Blending Brushes

To make the cards, I trimmed a section off one side measuring roughly 3" (7.5cm) wide and trimmed this piece into three.  I ended up trimming more of the length of these to fit the card base and the matting layers better.

Each of these were matted onto a piece of Old Olive cardstock. Linen Thread was tied around each one.  The sentiment was stamped in Old Olive ink and die-cut using the oval label from the Mini Pocket Dies and attached with Dimensionals.

One of these was attached to a piece of Basic White cardstock with Dimensionals and this was glued to a Pumpkin Pie cardbase.  The second has a Basic White cardbase with a strip of Pumpkin Pie over on the left side.

To finish the insides of each card, trim a slither of the stamped cardstock, cut it into two and glue each one to a piece of Basic White cardstock trimmed slightly smaller than the card size.  Trim off any overhang before gluing into the inside of the cards.  Add a few of the 'gold'gems from Iridescent Pastel Gems to add a bit of sparkle to the fronts.

I like to keep the card fronts relatively simple and let the stamping be the focus.
